May Sermon Series

Today, Spokane Salvation Army Corps (SSAC) has started a new sermon series on Spiritual Growth. The message today was entitled, "The Choice is Yours." The choice is really ours when it comes to our spiritual growth.

To move from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity takes diligent effort and focus. As Christians, we must make the choice to pray (talk to God) and read the Word (God talks to us). No one can do this for us. We must carve out a time and space in our busy lives to do these two foundamental things. What do you think happens to a relationship when the communication stops?

Perhaps, to start making time in our calendar for the Lord, we have to consider stopping watching hours of T.V. I think sometimes I fall into this trap. I love my T.V. Yes, it's great that we have a DVR to record our shows, but watching five shows in a row is longer and probably even worse than watching a regular program with commercials. Hmmmm, I think It's time to rethink my priorities:-)

Indeed, spiritual growth is a choice that is commanded by God, requires diligent effort, assisted by God, and is blessed by God. Let us continue to cultivate our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by talking and communing with Him.
