Memorial Day

Memorial Day, started on May 30th 1868, has been set aside to remember the men and women who gave their lives for this nation. A minute of silence at 3 p.m. on this day was observed to honor these brave soldiers.

President Bush also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at 11a.m. at the Arlington National Cemetary. There are 368,000 buried through history at this Cemetery.

Today the President stated, "On this day of memory, we mourn brave citizens who laid their lives down for our freedom. May we always honor them, may we always embrace them and may we always be faithful to who they were and what they fought for."

I think of what Jesus said in John 15: 13, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." We remember the fallen soldiers for their sacrifice for our freedom. We also remember the greatest sacrifice that our Lord did for us to give us freedom and life eternal!

Let us always remember!
